TWO Bradford businessmen are spending their spare time during Ramadan selling chocolate fudge cakes to raise money for an orphanage and blind school in Mirpur, Pakistan.

It is the fifth year that Abdul Satar, of The Office Furniture Company, Sunbridge Road, and his friend Amjad Akram, of Letz Talk phone shop, in Great Horton Road, have sold the cakes which last year raised almost £23,000 for the charity.

"We buy them at cost price from Seafresh, in Bradford, and deliver them to people's doors for £10 each. All the profits we raise go to the charity.

"We pay for our own fuel, t-shirts and leaflet printing and have been delivering them across Yorkshire and Lancashire," said Mr Satar. "That way all the profits go to where they should go. They are lovely large cakes with 17 portions per cake. They are lovely warmed up with some ice cream."

Mr Satar also runs Bradford Community Kitchen which feeds the homeless each Sunday between 3pm and 5pm from the Millside Centre, in Grattan Road, Bradford.
